This instrument is: Extant and Playable in this location

Jim Stettner on May 18th, 2026:

This entry represents the installation of a used organ in a newly-built chapel. Identified through online information from Thomas R. Thomas [May 11, 2026]: The instrument was sold to the Christ Episcopal Church of Greenville, South Carolina December 13th of 2016. It was installed in a new Chapel constructed at that time. It is extant and playable.

The organ was originally built in Edinburgh, Scotland most likely for Fingass Castle. It was moved to a church in Halkirk in the 1930s. The instrument was vandalized in the 1970s and most of the pipework was smashed. It was then shipped to the U.S. in 1996. Thom Thomas purchased the organ at auction in Concord, NH. and commissioned Jeremy Cooper to restore the chest and fabricate a new reservoir and missing action parts. The vandalized pipes were replaced with ones from 19th century New England organs.
