NOTES
This organ began life as a 1920s theatre organ built by the Wm. Wood Organ Co. of Hillsboro,
OR. Its original home is unknown.

It was relocated to the old St. Paul's Episcopal on Chemeketa Street in Salem by an unknown
person or firm and installed as is -- date unknown. The organ was then moved by Balcom and
Vaughan and reinstalled in the new St. Paul's Episcopal in 1954 as Balcom and Vaughan's opus
587. A new church-style console was provided to control the existing chests and pipes via the
original relay. No tonal changes were made. When the new Gabriel Kney tracker was installed
at St. Paul's in 1975, the existing organ was relocated here to St. Timothy's by an unknown
person or firm. It has been altered over the years.

When the organ was examined by Jim Stettner on August 10, 1990, only 23 of the 30 speaking
stops were working. Much of the pipework was out of their holes and lying about the chamber.

The Great 8' Principal bass CC is stamped: 3128 / 44 / CC / DIA / EG. The Great 8' Hohl Flute
is stopped wood for the bottom octave, open wood from tenor C thru middle b (24 notes), and
then open wood and harmonic to the top. It is likely the original Woods Concert Flute. The
8' Gemshorn and 8' Gemshorn Celeste are from two Dulcianas. The Great III Mixture was only
playing for 49 notes, though the holes were present for the top octave. Additionally, the
holes for the 3rd rank of the Mixture were taped-over. The chimes are on a pneumatic action
but were not playing.

The Swell 8' Viole d'Gamba and 8' Viole Celeste are from two Salicionals. The Swell 4' Flute
and 2-2/3' Nazard are presumed to be part of a flute unit but were not playing. The 4' Clarion
is presumed to be from the 8' Trompette but was not working. The 1-1/3' Larigot was not playing
and its source is unknown.

The Pedal 16' Contre Bass extension is unenclosed and non-expressive. The 16' Fagott was not
playing and its source is not known.

The Swell to Swell 4' coupler was also not functioning at the time of the evaluation.
