I visited this chapel on 10/9/24, and this organ has been in an unplayable condition for a while. It is still there, but it is not playable.
Updated through online information from Don Hurd. -- A magnificent, large chapel! I last played the organ in the 1980's--worked perfectly! Now they use a very small electronic and a grand piano.
Immaculate Conception Chapel at the Convent Motherhouse is listed for a 1901 Austin, Op. 51, 2-16. The related college moved in 1962, and their chapel, Mater Dei, is listed for a 1963 Steiner organ, Op. 3. Did it use pipework from Op. 50 for North Ave. Pres.?
Status Note: There 1998
If Op. is correct, from North Ave. Pres., Atlanta, GA, with new Austin console in 1939. Replace there by Wicks in 1961. [ed.: photo shows original console/keydesk attached]
Related Instrument Entries: Austin Organ Co. (Opus 50, 1901)
