Jim Stettner on February 18th, 2026:

This entry represents the electrification of the existing, 12 year old John Brown organ installed new after the February 6, 1898 fire. Identified from the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist website (Cathedral Basilica Organs page) which states, "In 1912, the John Brown was converted to electric action and continued to be used until 1938, when it was considered unplayable and discarded." Unknown what, if any, tonal modifications may have occurred.

Also from the same web page, "From 1938-1987, music in the Cathedral was supplied by a succession of electronic substitutes."
