Felix Fridolin Schoenstein
Opus 7, 1891

The Felix Schoenstein Opus 7 organ was originally constructed in 1891 for St. Mark's Lutheran Church in San Francisco, California, USA in the 19th Century German Romantic Style. Standing a true test of robust craftsmanship, Opus 7 survived the Great Earthquake and fire of 1906 in San Francisco. In the 1940's the organ was relocated to Saints Peter and Paul in San Francisco, California, USA. During this relocation the organ was fully electrified.
By 1986, the congregation was in search of a more expansive modern instrument and the organ was removed and replaced by a newer custom Schoenstein Company (not to be confused with the Felix Schoenstein installations) organ.
Opus 7 was then removed from Saints Peter and Paul Chuch and returned to St. Mark's Lutheran. St. Mark's was unfortunately unable to undertake the full restoration of the instrument and instead the organ was placed in storage in the New England area where it currently remains.
The Schoenstein company has pledged to offer the historic 19th century instrument at no cost alongside a $25,000.00 USD grant to the purchaser who must pledge to a full complete historic restoration of the instrument.

Some items in need of repair include:

• new action

The instrument is the only surviving Felix Schoenstein installation capable of demonstrating the work of the craftsman that is remaining in full.
