According to the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist website (Cathedral Basilica Organs page), "The restored cathedral was dedicated on Sunday morning, October 28, 1900, complete with a new organ by John Brown."
This instrument was built by John Brown and was used until the 1930's. It replaced the Goodrich organ in 1900 which was destroyed by fire.
The exact status of the organ is not known. According to a Wikipedia article, "On February 6, 1898, a fire swept the building and left only the walls and spires, however the congregation quickly rebuilt and was able to celebrate Christmas Mass in the new facility in 1899. < snip > The renovated structure was not completed fully for an additional 13 years.
The style of the organ case and facade pictured on this account is not generally consistent with an organ built in 1913-14. This raises the question of whether or not an existing organ survived the fire and was removed and stored; or whether a used organ was installed in 1913-14; or was it a new organ in a visually older style? More research remains to be done to find an answer.
