Frank Stebbins on December 22nd, 2022:

Based on the book, The History of the First Baptist Church, the church moved to a new building located on Capitol Street, from their original location on Yazoo Street around 1900. In 1902, the church purchased a new organ, a Barkhof Organ, $3,000. In 1925, the church moved to their present location at 430 N. President/431 N. State and donated the organ to a sister church, First Baptist Church in Clinton, Mississippi. According to the book, in 1974, although it had been extensively rebuilt, at that time, the organ was still in use. It should be noted, too, after the church moved to its current location, the church puchased a new Ernest M. Skinner organ (Organ ID: 17961) in 1940 for $25,000.
