Scot Huntington on March 13th, 2022:

The contract was signed on Nov. 21st, 1934, for delivery on or about April 24, 1935. The cost was $2450.00, with a $245 deposit at the time of signing with the balance due upon completion.

"All pipework with the exception of the Oboe Stop, to be taken from the Organ now installed in the the First Baptist Church, Wellsville, N.Y.". The organ was a tracker built by John Brown in 1905; the imposing brick church closed in 1932, was torn down in 1935 to be replaced with the new Howe library, and the congregation disbanded.

The organ was replaced by a new 3-manual Schlicker Organ Co. instrument in 1964. Presumably, little if any of this organ and it's historic Brown pipework was reused.

David Lenington on January 27th, 2021:

The Chronicle-express, Penn Yan, NY., January 24, 1935, page 1 indicated:
This organ came from the Baptist Church in Wellsville, NY. It was rebuilt in 1935. Hillgreen Lane provided a new, movable console. The organ was entirely rebuilt.

The April 26, 1935 issue of the Penn Yan NY Democrat indicated the organ dedication took place on Wednesday, April 24, 1935.

It is likely the organ was originally built in 1917 by John Brown for First Baptist Church in Wellsville, NY. This is based on an e-mail from George Nelson on January 27, 2021..
