Originally installed in the Majestic Theatre, East St. Louis, Illinois. The Majestic closed in 1960. Norm Kramer relinquished the organ to the local ATOS chapter. They refurbished it and were installing it in the Kingsland Theatre in St. Louis, Missouri. The theatre changed hands and the organ had to be spirited out in a matter of days. So in 1982, the new Fox Theatre management in St. Louis (that's right, the one with the 4/36 Fox Special in it) gave us permission to install this organ in the lobby chambers.
After years of trials and tribulations, the organ was at last ready to play in 1992. So Opus 1222 is in the lobby of the Fox Theatre in St. Louis, Missouri. It has been electrified with a Peterson relay. It was shipped with 8 ranks (orchestral oboe, clarinet and marimba added to the Style D). We have added a two rank string celeste, a brass trumpet and a harp instead of the chrysoglott. --Al Haker (June 1997)
