Updated through online information from Nathan Bienz [January 8, 2026]: The building was constructed in 1853 as a meeting house for the Society of Separatists of Zoar. After the Society dissolved in 1898, the building sat empty while the former members debated which denomination should take over. In 1901, the Evangelical Synod of North America was decided upon (later, through a series of church body mergers, the Evangelical and Reformed Church and finally the United Church of Christ). I cannot find any references to the congregation being listed as the "Zoar Community Church" aside from those that refer back to this entry, plus one photo on Wikimedia Commons. The congregation is also still a member of the UCC.
This entry describes the first installation of a new organ. Identified through information from HoltkampOrgan.com by John Igoe.
Updated through on-line information from Paul Jones. -- Status Update: Present, as of December 2008. Unknown when last restoration was done, but the organ is in a floor level case, with facade pipes exposed. The 1 manual keyboard is built into the organ case.
Status Note: There 1976
Was Evangelical & Reformed. Minor restoration in 1975 by Schantz.
