Updated through online information from T. Daniel Hancock. -- This organ was installed c. 1886 in the St. John Episcopal Church in Big Lick, Virginia, which would later become Roanoke. It was moved to the new church in 1892.

Identified through online information from T. Daniel Hancock. -- In 1883, a committee was formed to hire an organist/choirmaster, and by 1886, an organ fund was established, and an instrument soon purchased soon thereafter. By 1898, a photograph "shows a small organ against the front Nave wall on the South/Epistle side of the church. Small gold, nonspeaking pipes forme a facade for this organ [The organ was moved to the present building from the Commerce Street location; as of 2010 the toe holes remain intact in the frame over the sacristy door.]
