Identified through on-line information from Peter Gonciarz. -- A few notes on this instrument/church - First of all it is important to know that this church suffered from a fire in the early 1980's. The sanctuary suffered the most damage and unfortunately the original organ was destroyed. A friend of the church knew of an unused small Johnson and Son pipe organ from an old church located at the intersection of Genesee and Hickory St. in Buffalo. Pilgrim St. Luke's UCC acquired 9 ranks from this Johnson organ and planned on incorporating them into the new organ at Pilgrim St. Luke's. It is assumed that the 9 ranks that were acquired was nearly all of the Johnson and Son Pipe organ. The Delaware Organ Co of Tonawanda NY was hired to install these Johnson and Son pipes. The 9 ranks of Johnson Pipework that were acquired are very high quality pipe work, but unfortunately was not enough to meet today's worship standards. The Delaware Organ Co installed the 9 ranks and added about 11 additional ranks that added more upper-work and brilliance to make it a more or less complete 2 modern organ. I must admit that the overall tone may surprise the listener. This organ is capable of playing a wide variety of music ranging from Baroque (thanks to the Delaware pipes), Romantic (thanks to the Johnson pipes), as well as Modern music. The very small cozy sanctuary surprisingly enjoys a very fine acoustical setting. All music can be heard very clearly and has just enough "bounce."
