Identified through on-line information from John Coenraads. -- Casavant Organ Opus 400 is the largest Casavant of British Romantic voicing in British Columbia. Installed in 1910 in the Methodist church, it was dedicated on July 20th more than one hundred years ago! When the Victoria Conservatory of Music took over the hall, the fixed console was removed to make way for a stage. During the next twelve years the organ lay dormant until in 2010 a console, originally built by Grant Smalley for the Kolbinson Residence organ, became available and was reconfigured to operate Opus 400. It is on rollers and can be easily disconnected and moved to the side of the stage. The organ is still in remarkably sound condition, including the 100 year old blower. All the original pipe work is intact and unaltered. although the original Trombone 16 has been extended to 32'. On July 20, 2010, one hundred years to the day after the organ's original inauguration, the organ was reinaugurated with a recital by conservatory organist Nicholas Fairbank.
