Database Manager on July 28th, 2010:
Updated through on-line information from Jim Thompson. -- The [church] website gives pictures of the extensive work to repair termite damage over the entire roof and trusses of the church, as well as pictures of the organ during and after, including its placement in the church. The church and organ were not used for a long time while the work was done. The organ was covered to prevent weather damage. In 1974 Charles McManis refurbished the organ and added several stops (Great Gamba and an additional mixture, plus ?). It is part of the church's history that Walter Holtkamp, Sr. was extremely pleased with this organ as it was "...built just the way I like it." - W. Holtkamp. St. Stephen's treasures this instrument very much and is proud of its heritage.

Database Manager on December 22nd, 2008:
Identified through information published in John Ferguson's Walter Holtkamp: American Organ Builder (DMA treatise, Eastman School of Music, 1976). Although neither Votteler-Holtkamp-Sparling nor their successor Holtkamp Organ Co. assigned Opus numbers to their instruments, this organ was identified in factory documents as Job number 1676. That number appears here as the Opus number of this instrument.
