"Carnegie's Work Going On: Pierre, S. D., Church to Have Organ That Will Cost $5,000,” *The Diapason*, January 1911, [3] (first two paragraphs):
The Methodist Episcopal church of Pierre, S. D., has received word that Andrew Carnegie has taken sufficient interest in the spirit of the Methodists of Pierre to open his purse strings and present them with a $5,000 pipe organ to be placed in the new building, which is being erected. The church is a beautiful structure, costing over $75,000, and will be the finest in the state. The gift of the steel magnate has come at an opportune time.
Governor Vessey and the Rev. A. D. Thibedeau [*sic*] recently returned from a trip to New York, where they worked in the interests of the church and besides securing the offer from Mr. Carnegie added about $15,000 to the donations for the church building.
(Asa D. Thibodeau [not Thibedeau] is listed as resident in Pierre and “Pastor M. E. Church” in the 1910 U.S. census. *The Diapason* article continues with accounts of Carnegie’s donations of organs to other churches.)
"Opens Barckhoff Organ," *The Diapason*, March 1911, [7]:
A. F. McCarrell of Chicago gave the opening recital Jan. 31 on the new Barckhoff organ in the Methodist church at Pierre, S. D.
