Online update from David E. Wallace -- When St. Michael's Church closed in 1998, Hook & Hastings opus 1782 was sold to St. John the Evangelist Church in West Chester, Ohio. The organ was taken down and moved to the shop of David E. Wallace & Co in Gorham, ME where it was restored. The restoration included restoration of the discarded Barker assist on the bottom two octaves of both manual divisions and the restoration of the double rise reservoir and feeder bellows which had also been previously discarded. The pipework remains cone tuned. The organ was installed at St John's in the fall of 1999 behind the case from Hook & Hastings opus 2173 (1908) which St John's already owned and had incorporated into the design of the new church. The organ is presently in excellent playing condition.
