Paul R. Marchesano on October 20th, 2022:

The Great "Rohrflute" 8' is a stopped wood rank with solid (not pierced) stoppers; 1-12 of the Dolce 8' are of capped metal. Just what C. C. Michell's contribution was, is difficult to discern, and if it were not for the nameplate, one might suppose the organ to be nothing more than a pleasant "garden-variety" Cole & Woodberry. Closer inspection however reveals voicing that is perhaps rather more refined than what one might expect, and the Cornopean 8' instead of the more typical Oboe 8' suggests something unusual. Only a hint, perhaps, of the glories to come at St. Luke's, but a hint worth studying, and a fine little organ in its own right. -- 1996 OHS Handbook
