Updated through online information from Hunter Godsey. -- Construction of the third and final sanctuary of FBC Macon was nearing completion in 1885 when a devastating fire caused major damage. (The reason this church was being built was because the previous sanctuary had just burned down 34 months previous.) On Dec 4, 1885--the day after the fire--an organ was authorized for purchase at a cost of $2500. According the official church minutes, "the new organ was installed in early February, 1887, tested, and found satisfactory."
