German organ builder, born in 1930. He apprenticed with Paul Ott, 1948-1952, completing his Journeyman's examination in Hannover, In 1956 he attended the master school in Ludwigsburg. This was followed by a one-year stay abroad at Orgelbau Mårtensson in Lund, Sweden. In 1957, Janke began to make or voice flue pipes for other organ builders in Veckerhagen. He completed the master examination in Kassel in 1958. In the same year he opened his own workshop in Gertenbach. In 1963 the workshop was relocated to Bovenden, he continued as a builder of mechanical action instruments there until October 2009. The company was then relocated to Bühle (Northeim), and reduced in scope to doing service and renovations.
